This pivotal moment sparked a lifelong passion for birding and community science.
With nine years as a field guide, Kilusu’s tours showcase diverse avian species and expansive landscapes, making him a sought-after guide for immersive birding experiences. Mr. Kilusu also played a pivotal role in founding the Tanzania Birders Community and Kilusu Bird Club, uniting bird lovers for large-scale mapping projects. He introduced the ebird app within his local community which enhanced data efficiency and promoted data sharing among members.
Throughout the years, Mr. Kilusu has actively participated in various citizen science projects, contributing his knowledge and skills to bird mapping, nest watch programs, waterbird counts, and engaging bird exploration expeditions. His love for birds expanded into his proficiency as a bird sound recordist with over 2300 cataloged sounds on Xeno-Canto.
