Western Uganda-Bwindi and Lake Mburo may 2025

Day 1 Bwindi Impenetrable Np
We arrived to Bwindi view lodge late in the evening and after check in we started our birding around camp and there were lots of green white eyes,grey winged robinchats,african thrush,white breasted nigrita and black billed weavers

Day 2 Bwindi Impenetrable Np -Bihoma to Ruhija
We birded the buhoma track mainly focusing on the albertine rift endemics,our local guide nicholas took us to a spot for Neumann’s warbler ,purple breasted sunbird and other good birds we were able to find on the track. After lunch we drove to Gorilla mist camp in Ruhija birding briefly on the neck on our way there

Day 3 Bwindi Impenetrable Np(Ruhija)to Lake mburo
After breakfast we headed to the entrance gate and met with our local guide Gordon who was one of the excellent guides we ever used for Bwindi,At the start of the trail there was ruwenzori babbler,regal sunbird and blue headed sunbird,what a good start! We went down and recorded grey throated barbet,stripe breasted tit,strange weaver, ruwenzori batis and red faced woodland warbler. When we were half way on the trail Gordon went ahead of us to do a scouting for the grauer’s broadbill while we continued birding slowly,we added Lagden’s bushshrike and ruwenzori apalis to our list. We later met Gordon on the trail so excited we just knew that he found the rare bird, he pointed to us 2 individuals that were sitting near the nest,we spend sometimes there and ended up seeing 6 birds in that general area .
We went to Mubwindi swamp for grauer’s swamp warbler and we had very nice views of it displaying. We decided to head back to the main gate and on our way back we added mountain masked apalis and albertine sooty boubou
We had quick lunch at the gate and we took a long drive to lake mburo np arriving at around 6pm. We birded our way into camp adding black headed gonolek,black headed weaver, dwarf bittern,bare faced go away bird,red headed lovebird, blue breasted kingfisher and fiery necked nightjar

Day 4 Lake Mburo Np to Masaka
We birded the UWA bandas in the morning and there was blue breasted wooddove, malachite kingfisher, black crake and african fish eagle. We headed on the main track and saw bronze winged courser, bearded wood pecker,crested barbet, Tabora cisticola and many other birds. We checked out at around 9:30am and drove to Masaka city where Ashley our drive dropped me there and i headed back to Tanzania
