Day 1 -Catch your local flights from dar es Salaam to Mbeya city

Catch your local flights from dar es Salaam to Mbeya city

We will majorly bird for our target species such as Plateau lark, churring cisticola, buff shouldered widowbird, Tanzanian seedeater,Denham’s bustard and yellow browed seedeater.We will overnight at Kalongo farm

We will leave early from kalongo farm and drive to poroto forest and bird for black browed/southern mountain greenbul which should take less than an hour to locate, others that are there includes chapin’s apalis and forest double collared sunbirds. We will then take a long drive to Laela /sumbawang town

The kalambo preserve is characterized by miombo woodlands,marshyvalleys and lush forest which mainly host species which are of central african biome than east african. We will search for Laura’s woodland warbler,bubbling starling,black lored cisticola,anchieta’s sunbird,Alexander’s akalat,Tanganyika masked weaver,reichard’s seedeater,olive headed weaver,others includes southern black tit, western miombo sunbird,great crested grebe,locust finch,red capped crombec,angola lark,western citril,fulleborns longclaw and brown firefinch . We will spend the nights in Sumbawanga town

We will drive to the nearby Lake Rukwa,one deepest lakes in the world. Here we will bird for the rare striped crake,black winged praticole,bennett’s woodpecker,marsh tchagra, reichenow’s woodpecker,black-bellied seedcracker and others which worth a mention includes the rukwensi race of white-tailed larks, Eurasian bittern,baillon’s crake,black crowned and wattled cranes, another chance for tanganyika masked weaver and more-Overnight in Lake shore lodge

We will drive to the drier miombo of Katavi national park and keep on with our search for our most wanted birds such as stierling’s woodpecker,Marsh widowbird,Ruaha chat,babbling starling,miombo barbet,ringnecked francolin,streaked breasted flufftail and others such as western violet backed sunbird,kurrichane thrush,african skimmer,miombo rock thrush,broad tailed paradise whydah, Dickinson’s kestrel,racket tailed roller and others.Nights in Katavi bandas

The ugalla river is located 50 Km east of katavi national park and it hosts a number of species such as chestnut headed flufftail,streaked breasted flufftail,white-crowned lapwing,wattled cranes,african darter,openbill,white backed ducks,goliath and purple herons,great snipe, saddled billed storks,shoebill and more

We will drive to Ujiji and take a boat to mahale mountains Np for the next two days and bird for kungwe apalis, Sharpe’s greenbul, yellow bellied(kungwe)wattle eye, black backed barbet,oriole finch,fine banded woodpecker,regal sunbirds and others such as sharpe’s stuhlmann’s and waller’s starlings, mountain oriole,bamboo warbler, brown chested alethe, Fraser’s rufous thrush and striped pipit lives here

We will bird in the morning and later lake a boat to Ujiji and then drive to Kigoma and catch a flight to either Dar or Arusha 

 NB; We might have an extra night stay in Kigoma depending on flight availability
